Hi, I’m Francois Lafontaine, Head of the Software Business Unit at Fujitsu Network Communications. Let’s have an open dialogue about network automation evolution.
Networks stopped being about simple connections long ago, with the importance of integration, interoperability and capabilities rising with the need for more and more sophisticated network operations. The exponential growth in network complexity comes further into focus as consumers rely on uninterrupted services for the applications that power their lives. Key network attributes, such as availability, latency, bandwidth and mobility become essential parts of delivering networking services. The modern network needs automation, assurance, analytics to deliver and improve the customer experience.
Today, service providers need the flexibility to configure and reconfigure the network infrastructure and applications based on the traffic content and context, with as little manual intervention as possible. Add network slicing capabilities to the mix and a whole new level of automation, orchestration and assurance is needed. By blending orchestration, assurance and analytics, the entire network from wireless access to transport to the core IP network can deliver seamless digital services.
New tools and capabilities are required to constantly assess network traffic and service quality and detect threats. Providers need a framework for automation and real-time, actionable business intelligence to make effective decisions. They also need a way to orchestrate hyper-scalability and slice-based service delivery and management. And providers require service assurance and analytics tools that can create a reliable performance and management feedback loop. In networks with potentially billions of endpoints, automation is essential. The sheer size of 5G integrated networks requires automated scaling, healing, upgrading and network slicing – all of this while the network is processing traffic.
How service providers accomplish this is dependent on each provider’s unique business goals and where they are in their automation evolution. Here at Fujitsu, we’re prepared to meet you wherever you are in your digital transformation journey. We hope you’ll reach out and keep this open dialogue going.
